LEELA WEST
QUALIFICATIONS
I have always been interested in film, photography and art. Since I was 6 or 7, I have been making home movies with my friends on an ipad. When I was younger I attended several drama courses and eventually discovered BFI. I enjoyed BFI because it was about filmmaking rather than just acting although when I was in the mini filmmaker felt it was still too focused on action in front of the camera rather than behind. In 2018, I joined BRIT kids filmmaking and then also attended their theatre classes, there I finally felt like we were focussing on actual filmmaking. I was very excited to be accepted to BRIT school in year 10 which had been a life-long dream.
My favourite director growing up was Tim Burton, but being at BRIT has opened me up to many more directors like Wes Anderson, David Fincher and Richard Kelly. I hope I am able to continue my studies at BRIT throughout Sixth form, fingers crossed I get in!
